The Short-Form Video Playbook

Attention is the ultimate currency of the modern web. When user attention spans are measured in frames rather than seconds, how your content opens, flows, and closes dictates its success.

Here is the creative playbook we implement at Social Assets Marketing to ensure that every short-form piece we construct achieves high engagement.

Visual Pacing

Standard video formats allow for slow buildups. Short-form requires an immediate shift.

  • The Visual Hook: Start the video in the middle of the action. Never open with a logo spin or introduction.

  • Pacing Edits: Edit on the beat, and make sure visual cuts occur every 1.5 to 2.5 seconds.

  • Text Anchors: Use bold, high-contrast captions centered on the screen to anchor the viewer's eyes.
  • Authentic Aesthetics

Users swipe past polished, commercial-looking videos. The content must feel native to the feed. Filming on mobile devices in high quality often outperforms multi-thousand-dollar cinema cameras because it builds a layer of trust and direct-to-consumer intimacy.
